Q.  What do I need for a permit test?


A.  1. $28.00
     2. Legal document showing your date of birth and legal presence (see page    5 of the California Driver Handbook "ACCURATE IDENTIFICATION")
     3. Social Security Card, name must match your birth certificate.
     4. D.M.V. Application (DL44) for drivers license (signed by both parents)
     5. Enrollment of drivers training certificate (OL392...white).
     6. Completion of drivers education certificate. (blue)
And to pass your permit test a passing grade is 8 or less errors out of 46 questions. We have free practice test available at the office if you need them.

Q.  Can I sign up for Code 3 drivers training now, even through I am not done with driver education?

A.  You may only sign up once you receive your permit.  Then call 559.297.6903 or drop by the office to set up your lessons. The exception is if you are completed with driver education and you are under 15 1/2 and would like to begin drivers training before 15 1/2 years old, yes. We can issue you a student license for $2.00. This will only allow you to drive with Code 3 Driving Instructors not your parents, at least not until you get your permit.

Q.  How long is driver training?

A.  Lessons will consist 3 days 2 hour lessons each day for a total of 6 hours of behind the wheel training.

Q.  Can I use the same car I drove for driver training, for the D.M.V. Drive Test?

A.  Yes.  It is very common for a student to take their Drive Test in the same car that they took their lessons in.  There will be a fee for this, call the office and we will be happy to discuss the details with you.

Q.  What happens if I loose one of my certificates?

A.  First please call the office so that we can prepare a duplicate for you, so when you come in it will be ready.  The fee for the duplicate certificate is $5.00

Q.  When I go down for my drive test do I have to pay for my D.M.V. drive test or take another written test again?

A.  No.  As long as you take the drive test within the time your permit is valid and it is your first test. After your first test (if you fail) DMV will charge a fee of $6.00 each test thereafter.

Q.  What new restrictions apply to me when I receive my provisional license?

A.  During the first year after receiving a license, the provisional driver won't be able to drive between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. without special permission or with a licensed adult driver age 25 or older. The driver will also be restricted from transporting any passengers under 20 years old, unless accompanied by an adult at least 25 years old.
 When a minor turns 18 years of age the restrictions will no longer apply.

A.  Yes if you are under 17 1/2 years old, you will have to complete driver education to obtain your completion certificate.  And to pass your permit test a passing grade is 8 or less errors out of 46 questions.

Q.  How old do I have to be to start drivers training? And do I have to still complete driver education?

A.  At least 15 years old and Yes complete driver education. If you are under 15 1/2 and have completed driver education we can issue you a student license for $2.00 which allows you to drive with code 3 instructors only. The license only permits the licensee to drive with an instructor from the issuing school.
